The Tulsa Police Department added 28 police officers to the force on December 6. The graduation ceremony was at the Tulsa Police Training Academy, 6066 E. 66th St. North.
The recruits started their 28-week training on May 28, 2019. They have completed more than 1,096 hours of instruction, which included legal, firearms, defensive tactics, driver’s training, report writing and officer survival. Following the graduation, the recruits will transition to Officers in Training and will complete a 16-week training program with Field Training Officers. The Officers in Training will train in each of the department’s patrol divisions: Gilcrease Division, Mingo Valley Division, and Riverside Division.
Upon completion of field training, the new officers will be assigned to fill vacancies in the patrol divisions in March 2020.
