U.S. Senator for the seat left vacant by Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin:
The Tulsa Beacon endorses current U.S. Rep. Kevin Hern. Hern while not perfect has been a staunch conservative in the U.S. House with a proven track record.
- First District U.S. House – It is a varied field of candidates. Of the candidates with previous political experience Mark Tedford is the best. Lahmeyer has Trump’s endorsement but has never responded in the past to any offers of an interview from us making it hard to endorse him. Then there is the new rising star Courtney Gill who is new to politics but very sharp, well spoken and conservative, she just needs a bit more experience in politics.
- Oklahoma Governor – the Tulsa Beacon endorses Mike Mazzei. Gentner Drummond is a Democrat in disguise and Charles McCall is a career politician and a moderate Republican at best.
- Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor – T.W. Shannon will probably win and is endorsed by Trump, but David Ostrowe may be the better choice.
- State Attorney General – really a toss up, they both have strengths and weaknesses and many accusations have been floated, but I would recommend Jeff Starling just because I believe that an Attorney General should not be bound by his political connections and Jon Echols has many after his political career.
- State Treasurer – the Tulsa Beacon endorses incumbent Todd Russ to continue his good work.
- Superintendent of Public Instruction – the Tulsa Beacon endorses John Cox
- State Labor Commissioner – The Tulsa Beacon endorses Lisa Janloo
- . State Insurance Commissioner – Bob Sullivan
- Oklahoma Corporation Commission -the Beacon endorses Justin Hornback.
- For Tulsa County District Attorney the Tulsa Beacon endorses current D.A. Steve Kunzweiler. Kunzweiler has followed the law, even when it was not popular. He believes in the Judicial Process and has real trial and prosecutorial experience. His opponent has little real trial experience and even less prosecutorial experience. To be the District Attorney of Tulsa County is a big job and having the knowledge and experience of being a trial lawyer is a must. His opponent has recently switched from Democrat to Republican and is a former Bernie Sanders supporter.
- Tulsa County Treasurer – John Fothergill is a conscientious and meticulous Treasurer
- Tulsa County Commissioner District 1 – Idris Shelby
State Senate endorsements
- District 2 – Payton Pepin
- District 34 – Dana Prieto
- District 36 – John Haste
State House endorsements
- District 8 – Tom Gann
- District 69 – Angela Strohm
- District 74 – Sheila Vancuren
- District 98 – Gabe Woolley
District 14 Judges
- Office 1 – Caroline Walls
- Office 4 – Dustin Allen
- Office 12 – Kevin Gray
Vote NO on SQ 832
This would raise the minimum wage, which sounds good on the surface but it would tie it to the national minimum wage, which would mean Oklahoma would have no control over what it would be set at. It would be the same as in areas that have a much higher standard of living. It would also raise prices of goods and services because overhead would be increased. It has not worked well in California, raising prices so high people cannot afford to even eat at McDonalds.
