School races set for April 5 are more important than ever as progressive school leaders battle for the minds of our children.
Here are our recommendations for the April 5 votes.
Tulsa Public Schools Office 7
Tim Harris, the former Tulsa County District Attorney, is a conservative Republican. Harris has also been endorsed by former U.S. Rep. Jim Bridenstine; Christian Historian David Barton; Former Oklahoma Wesleyan University President, Dr. Everett Piper; Tulsa County Sheriff-Vic Regalado; and Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler. Harris is outspoken about his Christian faith and values and is a Colson Fellow graduate. Susan Lampkin is a liberal Democrat who is partially funded by the donations from officials from the George Kaiser Family Foundation.
The Tulsa Beacon endorses Tim Harris for TPS District 7.
Tulsa Public Schools Office 4
E’lena Ashley is rated a conservative Republican. She got a 100% conservative average from the Oklahoma Second Amendment Association (OK2A). Shawna Keller, a liberal incumbent, is the incumbent who has been endorsed by the NEA and the State Democrat Party. Keller is part of the problem with TPS. We recommend E’lena Ashley.
Union Public Schools Office 2
Shelley Gwartney thinks parents need to have a stronger voice and the board needs more checks and balances.
McNeil, a liberal Democrat, is the incumbent.
The Tulsa Beacon endorses Shelley Gwartney.
Bixby Public Schools Office 2
Jake Rowland is a moderate Republican. Amanda Stephens is also a registered Republican but that is not very telling these days. We have no recommendation.
Jenks Public Schools Office 2
Ashely Cross is a Republican who might be conservative.
Terry Keeling describes himself as a “moderate-conservative Christian.” He does not want public funding of charter schools.
Ashley Cross is the better choice.
Owasso Public Schools Office 2
Joshua Stanton is a conservative Republican, according to iVoterguide.com. Rhonda Mills is a Republican but there is not much information on where she stands.
We recommend Joshua Stanton.
Sand Springs Public Schools Office 2
Mike Mullins has been endorsed by ex-KOTV anchor Scott Thompson – an ultra-liberal former journalist.
MaRanda Trimble-Kerley has been endorsed by former Tulsa School Board member Lois Jacobs, a genuine conservative Republican.
The Tulsa Beacon recommends MaRanda Trimble-Kerley.
Tulsa Technology Center Zone 3
Mark Griffin is a conservative Christian. Jim Provenzano is married to State Rep. Melissa Provenzano, a Democrat and perhaps the most liberal legislator in the state.
The Tulsa Beacon endorsed Mark Griffin.
Owasso Schools Propositions – $86,960,000.00
This is too much money. We recommend a no vote.
