On August 11, the Tulsa City Council approved Mayor Bynum’s proposal to provide City employees with a 4% employee retention bonus, along with $500,000 in stipends to be split between new Tulsa Police Academy hires, new 911 Operator hires, and new non-sworn critical hires.

Some positions included in the $9.7 million proposal, which uses funds from the American Rescue Plan Act, include positions such as electricians, plumbers, plant mechanics, Parks workers, and others.

Also on August, Bynum signed Tulsa Police Department pay increases at a total cost of $8.4 million.

That included a $3,000 signing bonus for new officers and a 4% retention bonus for all city employees who have been employed for at least once year and who stay through the end of 2021.
