Tulsa shot lights out in the second half to pull away from UAB and cruise to a 99-77 win on Sunday at Bartow Arena in Birmingham, Alabama. The Golden Hurricane dominated the second half, shooting 20-for-29 (.690) from the field while hitting five three-pointers.
With the win, the Golden Hurricane are now 15-3 overall and 3-2 in the American. UAB fell to 12-7, 3-3 American.
It was Tulsa’s first win in Bartow Arena after losing the previous eight tries and the 99-point performance by TU is the second most ever scored by a road team on UAB’s home court.
Tulsa jumped out to a 20-12 lead midway through the first half, and was able to hold the Blazers at bay. The Golden Hurricane led 46-37 at halftime.
Tulsa came out strong in the second half and put together a nine-point run that gave the Golden Hurricane a 56–41 lead with 17:01 left to play.
For Tulsa, Miles Barnstable scored a season-high 25 points, converting six three-pointers on 8-for-11 shooting from the field. David Green led the team with 26 points, hitting 12-of-17 shots and collecting seven rebounds. Green became the first Golden Hurricane since P.J. Haggerty in 2023-24 to score 20 or more in three straight games. Tyler Behrend finished with a perfect 8-for-8 shooting performance, totaling a career-high 16 points and seven rebounds. Tylen Riley contributed 12 points and led Tulsa with six assists, while also recording seven rebounds and two blocks.
UAB was led by Chance Westry with 14 points and Jacob Meyer had 13.
Tulsa hosted Memphis on Wednesday evening and will play at Rice on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. on ESPNU.
