Three Tulsa residents were honored with awards during the Oklahoma Bar Association’s 117th Annual Meeting, Nov. 10-12, at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City.

These awards are three of 19 given to recipients from across the state during the three-day event.

Award winners were selected by the OBA Awards Committee and the OBA Diversity Committee from nominations submitted by Oklahomans across the state.

OBA President Mike Mordy of Ardmore, said, “They represent the best of our legal profession in many ways, such as contributions to their communities and to the profession, integrity and character that make them role models.”

Scott B. Goode, Maurice Merrill Golden Quill Award; Matthew Cecconi, TU College of Law Outstanding Senior Law School Student Award; and the Tulsa County Bar Association, Outstanding County Bar Association Award, were given awards.

Goode was awarded the Maurice Merrill Golden Quill Award for his December 2020 article, “Perceptions, Pills and Practicing,” that was selected as the best Oklahoma Bar Journal article of the year. Goode is the co-owner and managing partner of the Military Law Group PLLC and practices primarily in the areas of criminal defense, divorce/paternity and Native American law with an emphasis on active duty, reserve and veterans. He received his J.D. from the TU College of Law in 2005 with a certificate in Native American law.

Cecconi received the Tulsa University College of Law Outstanding Senior Law School Student Award. During law school, he served as a director of the Public Interest Board, and he was recently elected president of TU’s Federal Bar Association student chapter. Cecconi also serves as an Articles Selection Editor for the Tulsa Law Review.

The Tulsa County Bar Association, led by President Kimberly Moore, has grown from a 10-member group founded in 1903 to an association of over 2,200 attorneys.

This year, despite the restrictions brought on by Chinese coronavirus pandemic, the association continued its tradition of organizing and executing educational and service-oriented events and programs designed for the benefit of its members and the greater Tulsa community.
