My wife and I watched every minute of the ceremonies commemorating the life and passing of our 41st President. It was a beautiful tribute, and it gave the whole world a more personal and intimate view of the man himself.
It was an emotional, deeply moving experience, and one of enlightenment. Looking back over the years, I can now see that President Bush was often underestimated and misunderstood.
Perhaps that’s because many of his personal experiences and achievements were unknown to the general public. Even some of his family members were unaware of the perils he experienced in flying 58 combat missions in World War II as the U.S. Navy’s youngest fighter pilot. He was not one to talk about himself.
However, one of the most uplifting moments was seeing the multitude of people who came out to honor our 41st President. The throngs of people who passed through the Capitol Rotunda – attended the church services – and stood by the roadsides and railroad tracks to salute President George H. W. Bush, and to thank him for his service to this nation . . .
That was encouraging, and a good indication that, in spite of what the liberal media is telling us every day, there are still millions and millions of patriotic citizens who love this nation and are willing to fight to preserve its sovereignty. Let us never surrender! God Bless America.
