There are several Veterans Day events to be held on Veteran’s Day in the Tulsa area.
The 106th annual Tulsa Veteran’s Day Parade will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday November 11. The parage doute starts at 3rd and Cincinnati and ends on 6th and Frankfort.
The Parde is hosted by VFW Post 57 and is sponsored by ONEOK, Williams and ONE Gas.
Jenks will have its second Re-enactment of the “National Salute” from 11to 11:30 a.m. at Veteran’s Park at South Elm Street on November 9.
A “National Salute” is a ceremony that honors veterans and Unknown Soldiers buried in the Memorial Amphitheater at Arlington National Cemetery. It takes place on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, and includes a one-minute bugle call known as “Taps”.
Broken Arrow held its Veterans Day Parade early this year on Nov. 2.
Owasso will hod a Meet and Greet breakfast from 8-10 a.m. on November 14, at the Owasso Community Center located at 301 S. Cedar. The event is free for Veterans and RSVP is required. The Owasso Waffle House is sponsoring the event.
There will also be a Nov. 14 Veterans Appreciation Concert Presented by: Foyil Music Studio 7:00 PM at Owasso Community Center located at 309 S. Cedar, Owasso.
Veteran’s Day is a federal holiday and State of Oklahoma, Oklahoma Counties and Cities are closed except for essential workers.
The Tulsa County Courthouse will be closed. The Tulsa Beacon office will be closed as well.
