Oklahoma Senate District 35 is an open seat because Sen. Gary Stanislawski is term limited.

Stanislawski, who has served in the Senate for 12 years, has endorsed fellow Republican Cheryl Baber in the November 3 election.

That’s is a telling decision.

Baber faces Democrat newcomer Jo Anna Dossett, a liberal. She wants raise taxes to pump more money into public education. She has criticized the impact of the two recent Republican teacher pay raises. She is part of a group that wants to pass SQ805 and to keep emptying state prisons. She would vote to end cash bail for “non-violent” crimes.

In other words, she is a classic progressive who wants to move Oklahoma toward socialism.

In contrast, Cheryl Baber is a genuine conservative and a legal scholar. A former assistant U.S. attorney, she not only has the background to be an asset to the Senate but she is right on target with the conservative values that most Oklahomans cherish.

It would be a tragedy to replace Sen. Stanislawski with a die-hard progressive Democrat.

Cheryl Baber has a solid history of supporting law and order, limited government and conservative fiscal policy.

The Tulsa Beacon endorses Cheryl Baber.
