Criminal justice reform is lessening deterrents to crime all over the nation, including Tulsa.
Recent change in state law favor the criminal over the victim of crimes. To make matters worse, judges across the country are being lenient where it is just not appropriate.
You don’t want to make a public defender as a district court judge. Former prosecutors are much tougher on crime and career criminals.
On August 23, Tulsa County voters will cast ballots on an open seat, District Judge District 14, Office 12. The candidates are Kevin Gray and Tanya Wilson. Judge Tanya Wilson is already a Special Judge in the Criminal Division.
Kevin Gray is not a judge but he is the Assistant District Attorney in Tulsa County under Tulsa DA Steven Kunzweiler.
Gray has been the lead prosecutor for the office and winner of the “Top Gun Award” in 2020. Gray has an impressive education background and has been outstanding as a prosecutor.
Judicial races are nonpartisan and candidates are heavily restricted about what they can say or how they can campaign. They can’t even say what party they are registered with. This is good and bad because it robs the voting public of critical information about judicial candidates but it does lessen the impact of partisan politics on judicial races.
Kunzweiler, who is a conservative Republican (DAs are not as constrained), has wholeheartedly endorsed Kevin Gray. After working with him on key cases for several years, Kunzweiler is convinced that Gray is the best person for this job.
Kevin Gray is smart, honest, he believes in law and order and he wants to help people.
The Tulsa Beacon endorses Kevin Gray for Tulsa District Court Judge.
