OU Health Physicians Tulsa and Ascension St. John Medical Center, Tulsa, are co-sponsors of the Walk from Obesity +FunRun, set for April 30, at Hunter Park, 5804 E. 91st Street in Tulsa.

This fundraising event benefits the Oklahoma and Arkansas state chapters of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), a  nonprofit. Proceeds of the event support obesity treatment, research, education and access to care initiatives.

Oklahoma currently ranks ninth in the nation among states where obesity rates are accelerating, driving an obesity epidemic.

Advance online registration is $25, through April 29 at noon Onsite registrations are $35, payable by cash, money order or check, from 9 to 10 a.m. the day of the event.  Each adult online registration includes event entry, complimentary T-shirt and bag, as well as an online participant/fundraising page. Children under age 12 may register free with a registered parent or guardian.
