Why would anyone want to live in Chicago?

Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation and yet the first weekend in June was a bloody testimony to the fact that when guns are outlawed, only criminals will have guns.

Shortly after Chicago officials bragged about an ever-so-slight decrease in violent crime, 10 people were shot to death and 52 total were shot during the first weekend of June.

Crime reportedly was down 9 percent in the first five months of 2019 compared to 2018. That statistic is meaningless if you or a family is shot to death on the streets of Chicago.

In response to the threat of gang violence, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson ordered targeted patrols in certain areas. Police have made arrests and seized illegal guns. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot wants a new police chief.

Law-abiding citizens are afraid of helping the police due to fear of retribution by gang members. One part of the problem is a no-cash bond system designed to address “jail overcrowding.” It turns out that program is a quick way for criminals to get back on the streets.

Northwestern University alerted their students, staff and faculty after several people were shot near the Gold Coast Campus.

Homicide number have gone down in Chicago for the past two years but it is still not safe to walk the streets.

America’s big cities – run almost exclusively by Democrats (or Republicans who should re-register as Democrats) – are inundated with violent crime, homelessness, disease, illegal drugs, alcoholism and property crime. Chicago is just one example of betraying the public trust by not providing public safety.
