All of the Democrat 2020 presidential candidates said they fully support the Green New Deal proposed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-New York, and Sen. Ed Markey, D-Massachusetts, introduced the Green New Deal resolution in the Senate last month.

But when Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, called for a vote to advance the Green New Deal resolution on March 26, it did not receive a single “yes” vote.  In fact, all the Democrats voted “present” except for four Democrats who voted “no” as did all the Republicans.  The final vote tally was 0-57.

Isn’t it interesting how the Democrats are making speeches telling us how great the Green New Deal is  – but not one of them was willing to go on record and actually cast a vote in favor of this ridiculous “pipe-dream” of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

In case you haven’t been following the news, the Green New Deal calls for the United States to:

  1. Eliminate the use of all fossil fuels within 10 years – that means taking out of service all automobiles, trucks, buses, ships, trains and airplanes powered by fossil fuels.
  2. Retrofit every building (commercial and private) that does not meet the “new deal” ecological standards – either retrofit or tear it down.
  3. Eliminate corporate farms that raise beef, hogs and other animals that expel methane gas through flatulence . . . because that gas is harmful to the environment, and eating red meat is unhealthy.
  4. The government must provide free healthcare, free college education and a government guaranteed “living-wage” income for every person living in the United States (including those who are here illegally) and even for people who are capable of working, but unwilling to do so.
  5. The government must provide “pensions” for coal miners in West Virginia and throughout Appalachia to enable them to transition into a “new job” . . . to replace jobs lost due to the elimination of fossil fuels.

The American Action Forum’s analysis of the Green New Deal says “it will cost $93 trillion, which is 20 times larger than the current U.S. annual budget of $4.746 trillion.”

In addition, the AFL-CIO, America’s largest organized-labor union, slammed the Green New Deal, saying, “It is not rooted in an engineering-based approach and makes promises that are not achievable or realistic; and could cause immediate harm to millions of our members and their families.  We will not stand by and allow threats to our member’s jobs and their families’ standard of living go unanswered.”

How big of a lie will American voters believe?
