If you haven’t been paying attention to college softball, now might be the time to start. Both the OU and OSU softball teams are headed to the Women’s College World Series at Devon Stadium in Oklahoma City. The WCWS begins on Thursday.

In Norman last Friday night, the three-time defending national champion Sooners defeated Florida State, 4-2. It is the sixth straight year the Sooners have won the Norman Super Regional. OU has extended its record NCAA postseason winning streak to 18 games and is heading to an eighth consecutive WCWS.

The No. 2 seed Sooners will now have a shot at winning an unprecedented fourth straight NCAA crown. OU enters the WCWS with an overall record of 54-6.

At the same time, the No. 5 seed OSU Cowgirls punched their own ticket to Oklahoma City, after beating Arizona, 10-4, Saturday night at Cowgirl Stadium in Stillwater.

The win improves OSU’s overall record to 49-10 and the Cowgirls are headed to their fifth-consecutive Women’s College World Series.

The WCWS kicks off on Thursday. OSU is in Bracket 1 and will play No. 4 Florida in the first round. Also in that bracket are Texas and Stanford.

The Sooners are in Bracket 2 and will face No. 10 Duke in their first game. The other teams in that bracket are Alabama and UCLA.
