The Democrat Party is going overboard in their search for a strong woman to be our next commander-in-chief.  But that search for strong women is not just confined to the political arena.  It’s extended to every position of authority in our society — particularly those positions which were once thought to be only available to men.

For example, the Tulsa Police Department (TPD) recently announced they’re trying to recruit more women to become TPD officers.  The spokesman said TPD wants their officers “to be more reflective of the community they serve, and currently, 51 percent of Tulsa’s population are women.”

This policy objective should be very troubling to everyone.  While it is true the latest demographic study of Tulsa indicates 51 percent of Tulsa’s population is female – it also indicates 55 percent of the population are White, 16 percent Hispanic, 15 percent Black, 4 percent Native American, 3 percent Asian, etc., etc.

This same study also indicates 31 percent of Tulsa’s population is 50 years old and older. So if we were to follow through with the flawed logic behind this policy, 31 percent of the TPD officers should be 50 years old and older.  And, if we were to pursue it to its ultimate conclusion, white officers should be assigned to patrol white neighborhoods and black officers assigned to black neighborhoods.  And in the eastern parts of Tulsa, which now is predominately Hispanic, TPD should have only Hispanic police officers patrolling that area.

Sounds ridiculous doesn’t it?  Yes, it is ridiculous, but this is typical of the illogical thinking going on in our society today.  If this twisted thinking is fully implemented as public policy, it will ultimately take us back to the days of segregation.

It wasn’t that long ago, when people of color in Tulsa had their own neighborhoods, their own schools, their own churches, and their own business community.  White people had their own as well, and the two communities were kept separate – blacks and whites did not mix.

In other words, it was blacks serving blacks and whites serving whites; i.e., “people being more reflective of the community they served.”  The same condition that TPD is currently striving to achieve.

Surely, no reasonable-thinking person would want to return to that era . . . But that’s what happens when uninformed, or misinformed people are placed in positions of authority and allowed to implement unwise policy.
